TikToker Jack Doherty pleads for donations after hitting $300K McLaren live stream: ‘F–k dude’

Controversial broadcaster Jack Doherty has roasted the internet for pleading with viewers for donations after he crashed his new McLaren 570S supercar while texting and driving in the rain.

In a TikTok Live titled “Help me get my McLaren back,” Doherty asked, “everyone double tap the stream, we’re almost at a million likes guys, let’s see how fast we can get it.”

“I’ll follow them all back once we hit it, I appreciate you,” he said.

Responding to a viewer’s question, he said: “How did you crash your car?” I hydroplaned, I literally hydroplaned, I’m in a McLaren in the pouring rain, what do you expect? You guys have never driven a McLaren.”

Thousands of viewers simply commented with the word “gay”, a clip from the live stream was shown, even as donations poured in.

Many on social media were confused. “All gift givers should not have the right to speak,” commented one X user.

Another wrote, “Donating money to a kid who drives multiple supercars is outrageous lol.”

The 21-year-old was live-streaming himself behind the wheel of the $200,000 car as he sped down a slippery highway in Miami, Florida, on Saturday morning.

The video showed the popular YouTube, TikTok and Kick personality looking at his phone in his right hand seconds before he lost control of the vehicle, which skidded into the right lane and crashed into the guardrail.

Two bystanders pulled Doherty out of the window as he continued to broadcast.

He assessed the damage to his car before running to check on his friend in the passenger seat, who was bleeding from the head and clutching his wrist.

“Fk dude,” Doherty said. “My f-king car, holy no! Are you kidding me bro? Michael are you okay?”

The pair were both taken to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

Doherty, who has 14.9 million subscribers on YouTube, 10 million followers on TikTok and three million on Instagram, has since been banned from streaming site Kick.

His audience there was said to be 185,000 before he left the platform.

A spokesperson for Kick told NBC News that it “does not condone illegal activity, which is why we took swift action to ban this creator from the platform.”

No charges have been filed in the accident.

In a post on X on Sunday, Doherty apologized to his friend.

“I will post a more detailed response today, but it has been 24 hours since the accident and I want to say how thankful I am that Michael and I are alive,” he wrote.

“I’m so sorry Michael for putting you through this. Thanks to all the first responders and everyone who helped us out of the car. This could have been a lot worse and it’s a great learning lesson.”

But social media users widely condemned Doherty for his “reckless” actions.

“You could have killed innocent people on the street, yourself and the cameraman,” wrote an X user.

“You didn’t even stop streaming after the crash and handed the phone to your bleeding friend who you almost killed before you wanted to continue milking the situation for content,” said another.

Doherty is no stranger to controversy.

Earlier this year he was charged with assault and battery after his security guard punched a man in the face during a Halloween 2023 party in Los Angeles, and he recently drew criticism for hitting baseballs from the roof of a building.
